All are welcome! Perfect opportunity to learn the basics for beginners, but also a challenging sprint repeat workout for more experienced athletes.
7:00 – 7:15 am – Athletes set up bikes and transition area on racks
- Set up transition area for efficiency and simplicity
- Discuss having bike in appropriate gear, need to buckle helmet, transition etiquette
7:15 – 7:45 am – Swim:
- Two – three iterations of time trial starts.
- Line up two at a time, practice rolling TT start
- Experience elevated heart rate and entering the water
- Swim to pole 3, turn left, swim to pole 0 – Focus on settling into a comfortable pace, lowering heart rate and sighting
- Turn left at pole 0 and swim to shore. Note position of sun at this time. Can you see? Shaded or clear goggles for race day?
- Exit, jog along beach back to starting point
- Rest, recover and repeat as time and ability allows
8:00 – 8:45 am – Bike:
- Jog from lake front through sand and to bike racks.
- Practice T1: putting on gear, buckling helmet!
- Practice running to mount line and mounting past a “line”
- Practice spinning in easy gear onto 3rd street and up 3rd street hill. Emphasize gearing, managing effort, staying to the right.
- Turn right on West Minneola Avenue
- Turn right onto 7th street, right onto trail and back to transition
- Repeat as time and ability allows
